TEACHING

OLIVIER GARDON teaches piano at the École Normale de Musique de Paris Alfred Cortot. He has taught at the Conservatoire à rayonnement régional de Paris (CRR) and the Hochschule de Hanovre, and he was the Artistic Director of the Nice International Summer Academy. He is regularly invited to teach master-classes at numerous music academies including the Sommerakademie at the Mozarteum Foundation in Salzburg, The Toho Gakuen School of Music (Japan), the French Music Academy at the Institut franco-japonaise de Tokyo, Yonsei University and Sookmyung University in Seoul, Bowdoin College in the United-States, the Musikhochschule in Leipzig, the Trinity Laban Conservatoire in London, the Hochschule Lübeck, the University of Graz, le Festival Pablo Casals de Prades, etc. 

 

He has served as a judge at numerous international competitions: Marguerite Long-Thibaud (France), Cincinnati World Piano Competition (United-States), Tbilissi International Piano Competition (Georgia), Cagliari International Competition (Italy), Concours international d'Epinal (France), Valencia Iturbi International Piano Competition, Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition, Panama International Piano Competition, Bremen European Piano Competition (Europäischer Klavier Wettbewerb), etc.

 

As a performer and a pedagogue, OLIVIER GARDON attaches great importance to the unceasing exploration of the many facets of sound and the quest for beauty so that musical emotion may be fully expressed and shared. He believes that the link between the tactile sensations and the perceived vibrations is at the very heart of the relation between the instrument, the artist and the music.
